There are umpteen number of parathas
n flat breads in Indian cuisine. Phulkas are probably the easiest of them and
are made in most households across india.
Ingredients:-
- Wheat flour
- Salt
- Oil
Process:-
- Add salt to the flour and mix it well. Add water and knead it into dough that is firm enough to be rolled. Apply a little oil and knead the dough and leave it to rest.
- Take a handful of dough and roll it into a ball with your hands. Put some flour over it and roll it into a nice round circle.
- Put on a flat pan on the stove.
- Slap on the phulka on the already heated pan. Roast it nicely but leave one side slightly undercooked.
- Next roast the undercooked side directly on the burner till it balloons up with steam inside.
- Serve it hot with any curry or pickle.
Note :-
Phulkas are probably the healthiest of all
Indian breads as they require almost no oil in preparation. However, ghee is
smeared on hot phulkas traditionally. (children usually like phulkas with
ghee.)
